About this service

Foundation House provides direct services to clients in the form of counselling, client advocacy, family support, group work, psycho-education, information and complementary therapies.

Our services are:

We use professional interpreters as required.

Client eligibility

To be eligible to become a client and receive the following VFST services:

  • •Counselling (individual, family and/or group)
  • •Mental health clinic
  • •Complementary therapies

A person must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  • •Have a refugee or refugee-like background (see definition below); AND
  • •Have a history of torture and/or other traumatic events prior to arrival in Australia or be an immediate family member of such a person; AND
  • •Be experiencing psychological or psychosocial difficulties believed to be associated with their experience of torture and traumatic events; AND
  • •Consent to receive our services; AND
  • •Not pose an unacceptable risk to the safety of staff or other clients.
